Nintendo Switch 2 U.S. Pre-Orders Delayed Until April 24 Amid Trump Tariffs

Nintendo has announced that pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 console in the United States, originally scheduled for April 9, 2025, have been delayed due to an assessment of the impact of new trade tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump's administration. However, the console's launch date remains June 5, 2025.
In an official statement to the media, Nintendo said:
“Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S. will not start April 9, 2025, in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions. Nintendo will update timing at a later date. The launch date of June 5, 2025, is unchanged.”
The delay is due to new tariffs on imports from countries such as Vietnam, where most of the Switch 2's production will take place. These tariffs could affect the price of the console and accessories in the U.S. market.
However, Nintendo has confirmed that the base price for the Nintendo Switch 2 will remain at $449.99, and the bundle with Mario Kart World will sell for $499.99. Pre-orders in the U.S. will begin on April 24, 2025.
Nintendo also announced that the price of accessories like the Joy-Con 2 and Pro Controller will increase by about $5 to $10 due to changing market conditions. However, the prices of games such as Mario Kart World ($79.99) and Donkey Kong Bananza ($69.99) will remain the same.
The Nintendo Switch 2 console will be released on June 5, 2025, with pre-orders in the US starting on April 24, 2025. Despite the challenges posed by the new tariffs, Nintendo is committed to delivering these products to consumers at the announced prices.
